My husband, Ryan, son, Miller and I have been living in Franklin (just outside of Nashville) for almost 5 months. I can’t believe it has been that long. It feels like we just moved and are settling in. Wait… it’s because we are still settling in haha.
I have not shared before why Ryan and I moved our family to Tennessee. I feel led to share because maybe you are where we were for two years or you are where we are now. Ryan and I visited Franklin for a weekend trip after a couple friend told us how much they loved living here. That weekend we stayed at the couple’s house and immersed ourselves in Franklin. The scenery immediately captured our hearts. There were mountain/hill views and wildlife. Everyone we met was so hospitable. I remember one morning we woke up and ventured out for coffee and breakfast at a place called the Frothy Monkey. As we sat outside sipping our coffee, I realized we are sitting outside in July and it is cool. Like burrr cool. I don’t have sweat dripping down my back. This is awesome!!! We fell in love with Franklin that weekend.
Oh yeah, my sister Brittyn joined us on our trip to Franklin. We visited a cute farmer’s market that weekend in Thompson Station.
I love farmer’s markets!! This one was in a barn that had chandeliers hung in it.
Some time had passed and Ryan and I both felt the Lord calling us to move. We both weren’t sure why. We were surrounded by his family in Plant City, Florida. We were about to start a family of our own. But the feeling didn’t leave us so we decided to both dedicate time in prayer. During the almost two years we prayed, the Lord spoke to us and showed us signs….. like real signs with the word Franklin on them. Franklin was where he was calling us. We learned through the process of moving to Franklin that when the Lord speaks you listen and trust in Him. He opened the door for Ryan a job and us a home to rent all within a month before moving. It was crazy to us! Not, the Lord. He knew all along.
If you are playing the waiting game of what and where the Lord is calling you, know that the Lord will reveal it in his time. His time is always perfect. Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” In Isaiah 40:31 we are encouraged that the Lord will not let us grow weary while we wait. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Even though the Lord revealed to us that Franklin was where we needed to move and paved the way for us, doesn’t mean that is the end. We are still in the waiting game. We are ready for this season to be over. Why hasn’t the Lord already led us to a home church? We want to get plugged in and meet people. Why hasn’t the door opened for us to buy a house? Why hasn’t he shown us why he moved us here? So many questions.
WHY?????? Do you catch yourself asking the Lord why?
The answer is for me to have Faith. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 I will meditate on this verse for now.
